Since it’s dedication in 1932 the Charles H. Atherton House has been providing housing for adults in Hawaii. 

  Today, the Atherton YMCA continues that tradition by providing off campus housing to  men and women 
  enrolled in any school of higher education on Oahu.

Facilities

  • Single, Double or Quad occupancy.

  • Shared kitchenette with microwave and range in Atherton House

  • Coin operated laundry in  Atherton House.

  • Air Conditioned Study room in Atherton House

  • Air Conditioned Lounge in Mary Atherton Richards house

  • Group living area w/ Basic Cable TV and pool table, foosball, & ping pong

  • Dining room

  • Internet Access (wireless in lobby areas, wired cat5 jack in each room).  Internet access is for academic purposes.  Some websites may be blocked to  prevent bandwidth problems on the YMCA network. Residents are allowed to order private DSL service through Hawaiian Telcom

  • In room telephone service is available through Hawaiian Telcom

  • Rooms are furnished with a standard twin bed, dresser, desk, chair, and closet

        

 

Application Process

  • Submit an application for housing along with the following fees 
     

  • $225.00 Deposit, which includes a non-refundable $25 application fee and $200 security deposit prior to move-in.  At the end of you stay your deposit will be returned if you have completed payment for the full session and there are no room damages.
     

  • Applicant must be a college student taking at least 6 undergraduate credits at an accredited College or University.   
     

  • Once you have submitted your application, your name and information goes into the Atherton YMCA waiting list.
     

  • YMCA staff will contact you if a space becomes available.
     

  • Please note: Odds, Chances, Probability of an open space are not predictable in housing awards.
    When a space becomes available the YMCA offers a space.

Payment

  • Submit full payment no later than 30 days prior to moving in
     

  • If you are awarded and accept a space, you are responsible for all payments and deadlines.
     

  • Full refunds will be given to those who provide a written cancellation notice 30 days prior to move-in.
     

  • After move-in, room fees may be refunded only if a written request is approved by the Program Executive.
