Atherton YMCA

HISTORY

The Atherton YMCA is one of the nine branches that make up the YMCA of Honolulu.  Our origins date back to 1908 when Atherton was created to facilitate student conferences on the UH Manoa campus. IN 1932, the Charles H. Atherton House was donated to the YMCA as a resident facility for University students.

MISSION

The YMCA of Honolulu is a fellowship
dedicated to putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

CORE VALUES

The YMCA's core values serve as the foundation for YMCA of USA character-development resources. The YMCA of the Honolulu strives to incorporate the four core values into all of its programs, activities, and interpersonal interactions taking place at YMCA branches.

Caring:
to demonstrate a sincere concern for others, for their needs and well-being

Honesty:

to tell the truth, to demonstrate reliability and trustworthiness through actions that are in keeping with my stated positions and beliefs.

Respect:

to treat others as I would want them to treat me, to value the worth of every person, including myself.

Responsibility:

to do what is right--what I ought to do, to be accountable for my choices of behavior and actions and my promises.
