Self-Introduction: Hello! My name is Daniel Taira and I was fortunate enough to be chosen as one of the participants to Vietnam with the Alternative Spring Break program. This is my second international program with the YMCA. In 2004, I was able to go to Japan for the Hiroshima Peace Festival. I met tons of friendly people and opened my eyes to many new things. I am excited to have another chance to visit a new country and experience Vietnamese culture.

I am currently a junior at UH: Manoa majoring in Elementary Education. I love working with children at my A Plus job and I hope to teach second or third graders after I graduate. I hope to make a difference in the lives of my students when I become a teacher. 

From this program I hope to not only help others, but to grow as a person. From what I've heard from past ASB members, the program has been a life changing experience. I hope that my experience is just as rewarding for me. I would appreciate any donation, small or large, to help me have the opportunity to travel to Vietnam with ASB.
